About Us
KKIOR: Komunitas Katolik Indonesia Oregon
(Indonesian Catholic Community in Oregon)
Short History: After repeated attempts to form an Indonesian Catholic Organization in Oregon, on June 14th, 2002, several families met and decided to form Indonesian Catholic Organization out of thirst of having Indonesian Mass. We met irregularly at first and had Indonesian Masses (the priests mostly from the East Coast) at our Member’s Residences. With guidance from Archdiocese of Portland, we started to look for our home parish, and finally Fr. Paul Peri graciously allowed us to start Indonesian Mass (or Bi-Lingual) at St. Michael the Archangel on certain Sunday at 2.00 PM. Later, we start to meet very regularly and decide to maintain Indonesian Mass (or Bi-Lingual) at every 3rd Sunday of the month at 2.00 PM. Currently, lots of our members are actively participating in various services in St. Michael from Pastoral Council, RCIA, Music Ministry, Liturgical Ministry, etc. We are very proud to be a part of St. Michael’s Parish.
Mission: A non-profit and non-politics Organization under Archdiocese of Portland who serves the needs of Indonesian Catholic Communities in Oregon and surroundings.
Activity: We celebrate Indonesian Mass (sometimes Bi-Lingual) in our Home Parish St. Michael the Archangel, Downtown Portland OR, every 3rd (third) Sunday of the Month at 2.00 PM. We also have a regular Bi-weekly Young Adult Prayer Group Meeting and Monthly Rosary Group Meeting. Also we maintain Yahoogroups Mailing List as a mean to communicate between our members.
