"A friend is a friend at all times, and a brother is born for the time of adversity."
— Proverbs 17:17
What is The ARK? ARK stands for Activities and Recreation for Koinonia (Greek word meaning :"the idealized state of Christian fellowship"). The ARK at St. Michael's exists to welcome young adults into deeper community in our parish life.
The ARK plans unique social events designed to celebrate, enjoy life, and bring others into our community. Really, all young adults are welcomed! Past events have included: a weekend away at the mountain, BBQs, hikes, chili cook-offs, movies on the lawn, lectures, etc. Check our website, Facebook, or Instagram pages so you don't miss any upcoming events.
Join us every Sunday for Mass! 6:35 pm we pray the Rosary, and celebrate Mass at 7 pm.
It’s a prayerful mass with praise and worship music style. Come and See!
Each Sunday night after the 7pm mass, parishioners also meet downstairs in the parish hall to grab a snack, catch up with one another, make new friendships, and enjoy a few more laugh and conversations before the week begins.
The ARK Works of Mercy team plans and facilitates experiences where we can meet the tangible needs of others in Portland to display the love of God. If you’re interested in volunteering and would like more information, please email email@example.com and we will provide further info on how to sign up and answer your questions.
Young adults and priests alike join at Duniway Park each week at 3:30pm on Sundays to play a game of pick up soccer. Come join us- all abilities are welcome!
Each first Friday of the month (October-June), the ARK gathers at St. Michael's parish to spend an hour and a half in adoration, prayer, song, and to be partakers in the Blessed Sacrament. After the holy hour, the group meets at a local pub for drinks and food. We hope you can join us and make a few new friends.
Each January through April, St. Michaels hosts the Alpha Course on Tuesday at 6:30pm. This is the ideal place to invite someone who: 1.) is interested in learning more about the Christian faith, 2. Is wanting to clarify what they think about God, or 3.) is looking to get involved in parish life. To learn more about the Alpha course, check the St. Michael's webpage in the autumn.
Young adults, join us for our MOCKTOBER FEST FALL KICK-OFF on Sunday, September 22nd after the 7pm Mass at St Michaels. In addition to food and friends, we will be announcing St. Michael's fall events, ministries, service opportunities, and ways you can get plugged into the community.
Sure, this faux October fest won't have too many pairs of lederhosen AND is not in October, but we are having tasty sausages, root beer, and hearty snacks. We hope to see you (and the friends you bring) there!
PS People will be going out for drinks after the event.
PPS For integrity's sake, the jovial men pictured above will likely not be in attendance. Bring your jovial self!
