The season of Advent is a time of preparation for Christmas, a season of watchfulness, silence, and expectation. Here are some things you can do to live this season well:
- Choose a daily devotional and pray ever day. Here at St. Michael’s and Old River we are proposing The Advent of Rescue, which is available at the back of the church.
- Set up your nativity scene on December 8.
- Make a good confession before Christmas. The Advent Penance Services are December 17 at Old River and December 18 at St. Michael’s.
- Pray with the word Maranatha (Come, Lord Jesus) in areas where you need the Lord to be born in your life.
- Read a good book: we recommend the Jesus of Nazareth Infancy Narratives by Benedict XVI, Joy to the World by Scott Hahn, The Mystery of Christmas by Raniero Cantalamessa
