Respect Life Sunday Mass

  • St. Mary Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 1716 NW Davis St. Portland, OR 97209 United States (map)

Please join us for a special Respect Life Sunday with Mass with Archbishop Sample this Sunday, October 1 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portland at 11 a.m.

Each October the Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.

October is Respect Life Month

Since 1973, the Catholic Church in the United States has observed October as “Respect Life Month.” This year, Bishop Michael F. Burbidge of Arlington, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Pro-Life Activities invites Catholics to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Respect Life Month by embracing “radical solidarity” with women facing difficult or challenging pregnancies. Please see his statement HERE

We hope for all clergy and laity to promote a culture of life this October and always. Please see the USCCB Respect Life Guide below. Let's make this October's Respect Life Month one of great action and prayer for LIFE!
